Indonesia Domestic Biogas Program (IDBP) or known as BIRU Program is an initiative between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) and Hivos. Furthermore, in 2012 it was implemented by the Yayasan Rumah Energi. This initiative appears to provide opportunities for the Indonesian people to have access to renewable energy sources that are healthier, cleaner, and more environmentally friendly.
To get to know more about the founding partners of the BIRU program, here are their short profiles:
Hivos and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources took the initiative to build renewable energy sources in response to the need for daily energy access that is efficient, clean, and environmentally friendly, which is then implemented by Yayasan Rumah Energi.
It is a non-governmental non-profit development organization that stands on humanitarian principles founded in 1968 with its head office in the Netherlands and building a network in the southern hemisphere.
In carrying out its programs, Hivos always believes that every human being has equal access to resources and opportunities for their development. Not only that, but every human being also has the same position and portion to voice his voice. Hivos also believes that every human being is sovereign over himself and can determine his future.
With humanity’s spirit, Hivos develops programs to strive for renewable energy as a right for every human being, especially for people from developing countries. Renewable energy is relevant for responding to climate change, especially in developing countries, because the technology is environmentally friendly, economical, and able to empower local citizens.
