SION Foundation
Sion Foundation is a charity or deacon under GKJTU (North Central Javanese Christian Church) which was established on 11 November 1977 due to their concerns on the lack of basic education facilities on the slopes of Mount Merbabu. The founder of Sion Foundation then managed to set up a primary school in Ngaduman and Thekelan. Later on, they also built and develop a junior high school and vocational school in Getasan.
With the slogan "Effective Work to Empower Society", Sion Foundation develops services to respond to the complex social problems, not necesarilly in education, but also in other issues that are faced by society, such as: (1) health issue, by establishing health posts, called Lentera Mas, in collaboration with professional doctors and medical personnel and assisted by other health workers; (2) economic issue, community empowerment by increasing family income and entrepreneurial training; (3) environmental issue, by calling public awareness about environment and to support the better sustainability of human life through organic crops programme, workshop on global warming, biogas, etc. ; (4 ) emergency natural disasters, such as the recovery of the survivors of the Yogyakarta earthquake and Merapi eruption in the sector of economy, health and environment.
SION Foundation become partner of BIRU since September 2012 and up to now has built 60 biogas reactor.
