Lembaga Pengembangan Teknologi Pedesaan (LPTP)
Rural Technology Development Institute (Lembaga Pengembangan Teknologi Pedesaan/LPTP) was established in 1978. In the early years, LPTP conducted discussions, research, and studies on development models and their appropriate technologies, in cooperation with various national and international institutions.
Currently LPTP have four development centers:
- Sustainable Energy Development Center (PPEB)
- Sustainable Food and Farming Development Center (PPP&PB)
- Economic Democracy Development Center (PPEK)
- Environmental Technology Development Center (PPTL)
LPTP has a track record as one of the pioneers in biogas installation and construction. They started 20 years ago (in 1990), in cooperation with a German international organization, BORDA/Bremen Overseas, and together built many biogas units. The early domestic biogas units were built for cattle farmers to tackle problems of energy and cattle waste. Over time, biogas units also found acceptance in the tofu industry as a solution to waste problems that plagued the industry.
All implementing agencies under the LPTP Foundation, including prin2cipal implementing agencies (PPEB, PPTL, PPP&PB, and PPEK) and business units (PT Dewats LPTP, PT Susdec LPTP and Koperasi Tekad LPTP) will take part in this biogas program. The LPTP foundation has become BIRU construction partner organization since 1 February 2010.
