SAE Pujon Cooperative
SAE is short for Sinau Andandani Ekonomi which means "To Learn how to Fix the Economy", thus becoming the name of the Cooperative which is based in the area of Pujon in Malang (East Java). The SAE Pujon Cooperative was established on 30th October 1962 with 22 members, 35 cattle and milk production of 50 litres. Today, with 63% of the locals' livelihood as dairy cattle farmers, the cooperative has expanded to 7.967 members, with 24.218 cattle and producing 36.284.145 litres of milk. 1975 was the start of their relations with PT. Nestle Indonesia in supplying fresh dairy milk produce.
Their achievements over the years have not gone amiss as they've earned themselves a well-deserved reputation:

- 2001: National Level Achieving Cooperative
- 2006: 1st Place Outstanding Producer Cooperative in East Java
- 2006: National Outstanding Producer Cooperative
- 2006: Cooperative Recipient Award
The advantages of the BIRU domestic biogas program is align with the Cooperative's directives – the realization of economic stability of the Pujon society which ultimate results in security and stability. Including the cooperative's ability to improve devices, equipments and facilities to a more professional standard, and increase in capital performance for improved services to members which helps realize individual development. The biogas digester unit covers all those aspects and more. Its positive impacts have been enjoyed by the amount of partners and biogas units installed, that Hivos has successfully developed ever since the launch of the BIRU program.
