lintasterkini.com, Pankep – The Regent of Pangkep, Syamsuddin Hamid appreciates the domestic biogas utilisation programme toward energy independent village managed by Hivos. During his speech, he confirmed his support any individual or organisation which intends to help the community in Pangkep.

“Today I am honoured to have gained the trust from Hivos. We are very responsive to any individual or organisation which intends to help us, for the prosperity of the people in Pangkep,” uttered Syamsuddin Hamid, Wednesday (12/21/2016).

The number one person in Pangkep Regency has ordered all 26 village heads, especially those in the land areas, to collect data on those whose livelihoods are cattle farmers and have the potentials for biogas development.

“These are the duties of all twenty five officials who have just been sworn in as village heads, to collect data of cattle owners, as we intend to develop this biogas programme. Moreover, Pangkep will be the future pilot regency for sustainable programme,” he firmly said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Energy and Mineral Resources Office of South Sulawesi Province, Ir. Gunawan Palaguna, M.Si during his welcome speech informed, that the Governor of South Sulawesi, Syahrul Yasin Limpo has extended the agreement with Hivos until 2018.

“Although the Office of Energy is incorporated into the structure of the Provincial government, I do hope that the Regent will establish a group or dedicated team for this biogas programme,” he said.

Gunawan said, that the funds for this programme is not necessarily allocated for the provincial-level activities. It may also be allocated into activities at lower structures.

“The team may be incorporated into certain regional or local agency. As it is now you could build two reactors for Rp 15 millions, it used to be that you had to spend Rp 15 millions for a single reactor,” Gunawan explained. (*)
