You do not need to become a partner if you only want to have biodigester. You can simply contact the construction partner in your area and apply for BIRU digester.

Yes as long as your organization is still committed to building domestic biogas digester in accordance with BIRU scheme and standard. Note that BIRU will not give a double subsidy. It means that if a reactor receives financial support from other party, BIRU will not provide an additional subsidy. It would be better if the other program provides financial support in the form of low-interest revolving fund that is accessible to public.

The construction costs for the BIRU digester is paid jointly by the user and Hivos-YRE. BIRU pays subsidy amounting IDR 2,000,000 for each digesters. The money, referred to as the subsidy, is paid to the construction partner when the reactor has been built and is functioning properly.

BIRU allows the construction partners to set up biogas business as a business that is open market. The CPO is free to determine its own payment mechanism construction costs. The subsidy component in BIRU programme is designed to ensure commitment of the CPO to the programme and to BIRU users. It will also reduce the risk of below the standard structure and quality of the BIRU digester.
6. What is the duration of the partnership contract between the partners with programmes BIRU?
In general, BIRU offers 1 year contract to its CPO. Evaluation will be done before the contract expires and should the CPO still interested to continue the partnership.
7. I'm not interested in being a partner but would like to adopt BIRU digester model. Is this allowed?
BIRU promotes the growth of the biogas market sector in Indonesia and therefore welcomes any party who want to adopt its technology. The technical information related to Biogas reactor House (BIRU) is accessible for anyone. Nevertheless, BIRU programme can not provide technical support to the organization/institution that is not a BIRU partner. BIRU programme is also not responsible for the quality of the biogas digester built without the supervision of the programme and does not provide after sales service.
8. Is it possible to build digesters for industrial scale, not the household?
BIRU digester specifically designed to meet the needs of the household scale. We do not have the schematic of the digester for large-capacity industrial scale.
