The meeting of local stakeholders to discuss BIRU’s Gold Standard certification was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources at both national and provincial levels, BIRU’s construction partners, economic cooperatives working in the dairy sector, and other related agencies. The meeting was held on Thursday, February 16, 2012, in Jakarta, and Hivos, a Netherland-based, non-government organization that has been managing the program, conducted a public consultation regarding the mechanism of carbon trading.

Hivos invites representatives from the Indonesian Government, NGOs, users of BIRU digesters and BIRU partners to attend the Local Stakeholder Consultation in preparation for qualification and certification of the Gold Standard.

Hivos, through its BIRU program, aims to use the income generated from carbon credit for future development in the biogas sector.Therefore, a series of consultations will be done, namely the Program of Activity-Program Design Consultation (PoA-PDC) and Local Stakeholders Consultation (LSC), with relevant stakeholders in Indonesia Domestic Biogas Program such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia both at national and provincial levels, partners, BIRU users, as well as local and international NGOs working on climate issues.Aim to gather all stakeholders’ opinions and approval about the way IDBP designs the carbon mechanism, the LSC meeting/workshop will be conducted in Jakarta on Thursday, 16 February 2012.

To achieving energy independence in the province of Bali, the Indonesian Biogas Domestic programme (BIRU) together with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources held implementation evaluation workshop in Bali Hotel Inna Sindhu, Thursday, July 28, 2011 . The workshop was attended by relevant government agencies from the national level and number of provinces such as Bali, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Maluku, Papua, a number of credit providers and private sectors.

BIRU Program (Domestic Biogas) will conduct training for masons and construction supervisors partners in Lombok. Training will be conducted for seven days, starting date of 09 May to 16 May 2011 in the village of Kekait, Gunungsari District, West Lombok Regency.

On 26 and 27 April 2011, Training of Trainers for the user manually conducted in Solo, Central Java. The participants of the training were supervisors from seven BIRU Construction partners in Central Java and Yogyakarta, among others, Paluma, SPTN HPS, LPTP, KUD Mojosongo, CV QT, Postra, CV. Graha Utama. It is expected that after this training, supervisors can conduct training on operation and maintenance for users who have utilize the BIRU reactor.

On 20th and 21st of Last January, the East Java office of the BIRU Program held a Training of Trainers (ToT) attended by 19 biogas supervisors from 10 of BIRU’s development partners. This activity was held for two days at the Hotel Metropole in Batu Town, Malang and was directly guided by Sundar Bajgain, senior technical advisor of BIRU Program. In the training, participants gained general biogas knowledge and was explained the benefits and rights of users regarding three-year warranties and subsidies accepted. Participants also received training of technical operations and biogas reactor maintenance, various problems which often came across, how to overcome them as well as utilization of bio-slurry.
